Recently, mom’s most trusted baby carrier brand unveiled their new (and pretty revolutionary) product, the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller.  We’re excited that Real Time Mom had an opportunity to give this stroller a test drive to provide you with a detailed review to see if the Ergobaby 180 luxury stroller is a good fit for you and your family.

Overall, it’s pretty awesome. No, it’s REALLY awesome. The quality of the material, the detailed features, the smoothness of the ride, and comfort for both mom and baby. Ergobaby has thought of everything, even a feature that hasn’t been offered by any other stroller on the market- reversible handlebars.

Below, we’ll go into much more detail about everything the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller has to offer because there’s a lot!

Reversible Feature Explained

First, we want to give you a quick overview of why this stroller is so different than any other stroller on the market, thus making it revolutionary! The Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller offers parent’s the unique ability to face your baby outward or towards you with a quick flip of the handlebars.

Yes, this is not the first time a stroller has allowed you to change the seat direction of your child, as there are some that do. BUT, the other reversible luxury strollers on the market (Like the UPPAbaby VISTA Stroller and Baby Jogger City Select LUX Single/Double Stroller) require you to move the entire seat of your child and come with a hefty price tag.  This differs from the quick handlebar flip of the Ergobaby 180 Reversible stroller. No disruptions for your child and ease of access and movement for you.

BABY REGISTRY CHECKLIST

Not to mention, the $399 price tag for the Ergobaby 180 is great considering the other luxury brands available and what they are (or are not) capable of.

Like we said, R-E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N-A-R-Y.

We found the handlebar flip, simple to achieve and super convenient when out and about. All it takes is a quick click on either side of the handlebar and it’s done.

What Else Do We Like?

Besides the neat handlebar trick you can easily achieve to change the direction of your child, the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller has a lot more to offer.

To begin, you can fold the stroller using one hand, which is perfect for the busy parent or a parent looking for more convenience and comfort in loading and unloading strollers into your car. Once again, we found this movement to be really easy.

With this one-handed fold feature, weight is important. The Ergobaby 180 is pretty lightweight, weighing a total of 20 lbs. That sounds heavy, but in comparison to luxury stroller brands, it measures up.

As mentioned above, the Ergobaby 180 does come at a cost that we found reasonable when comparing it to the other reversible, high-end stroller brands on the market. We find that when it comes to baby products, you usually get what you pay for. With cost comes quality, longevity, and convenience. In other words, the price is something you can feel and see immediately.

Speaking of convenience and worth the cost, let’s discuss the Ergobaby 180’s range of motion. We love that the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller has all four wheels that move and swivel, rather than just one set of them like other strollers. All four of these wheels can be locked separately, as well. When pushing the stroller, it really feels like you’re gliding, making for such an easy ride for mom and baby.

This stroller also self-stands after folding. We think this feature is great for storage and for loading into a car.

Another feature we love is the extended canopy to cover and conceal your child’s eyes.  The length of the canopy definitely compares to that of the Baby Jogger City Mini GT Single Stroller, which is an excellent tool for parents that are out and about, especially during walks or jogs. Perfect for shielding a newborn or protecting a toddler from a possible sunburn.

Speaking of being outdoors, the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller also has a portion that is made of breathable mesh they call “summer mode”, perfect for airflow and ventilation when needed.

We also love the storage this stroller has to offer. The compartment underneath the seat is really roomy. Perfect for just about anything you could want or need to bring along with you while out and about with your little one. Trust me, when you’re a mom, storage is everything.

Leave it to Ergobaby to also throw in some add-ons that don’t usually come with strollers such as a nifty cup holder and a sweet pouch for storage of your keys and cell phone, which is secured with a zipper. Most of the time, these are available for strollers, but come at an extra cost. In fact, the amount of storage on this stroller is out of this world. Totally perfect for the mom hoarder like us here at Real Time Mom.

Extra Accessories Available

With strollers, there are some neat and necessary accessories you’ll want for your baby’s new ride. Here is what’s being offered for the Ergobaby 180

Car Seat Adapter for Graco/Chicco car seats (explained at length in the next section)

Snack Tray to keep your kid busy with some yummy treats while you’re out and about.
Newborn Comfort Insert recommended for babies under 6 months of age for an ergonomic fit.

What Else We Want To Point Out To Our Readers

There are some features and other details we want to point out to our readers prior to making your stroller selection.

One HUGE question that most parents need to know before purchasing a stroller (and can be a deal breaker) is which car seats are compatible. As of right now, the Ergobaby 180 Reversible Stroller is compatible with the Graco SnugRide Click Connect Infant Car Seat and the Chicco Keyfit Infant Car Seat and the Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat. Yes, these are popular car seats, but unfortunately, they are the only ones that work for this stroller.

The popular Chicco Keyfit30 Infant Car Seat is compatible with the Ergobaby 180

We’re hoping that as they come out with new models, the Ergobaby 180 will be compatible with more car seats, but for now, if you don’t have either of these car seats, the Ergobaby 180 won’t work for you unless your child can be seated in a stroller without a car seat.

Another detail that’s important to some families is how others rate and rank a baby product. Since the Ergobaby 180 is fairly new, there aren’t that many reviews out there. Also, since people haven’t been using it that long, no one can speak of the long-lasting abilities of the stroller either. This lack of information may steer some people away.

As of right now, there is also no double stroller available. This is a bummer for those of us expecting baby #2. Maybe Ergobaby is designing the next model as we speak!

There is a cheaper option for a reversible stroller in the Graco Modes Sport Click Connect, but, this is not a luxury brand. Sometimes, when it comes to baby products, you get what you pay for, so take make sure to take these from a test spin to get the difference in motion and quality of material in order to form your own opinion.ergobaby-180-reversible-stroller
